Why buy BTnet from Forever Communications

A leased line is a bigger decision than broadband: a survey, a build, a minimum term and a lot of jargon. As an Authorised Supplier for BT, Forever Communications helps you get the right BTnet service for your site and understand each step along the way.

In short

Forever Communications is an Authorised Supplier for BT and part of Forever Group. We help businesses buy a BT leased line (BTnet): sizing bandwidth, choosing a plan and resilience, preparing the quote, guiding you through survey, wayleave and site preparation, and helping with changes and SLA claims after go-live.

Who we are

Forever Communications is an Authorised Supplier for BT. We supply BTnet leased lines and BT Cloud Voice to businesses, schools, charities and public sector organisations, and we are part of Forever Group, which also covers business connectivity, telephony, IT and security.

This site is ours. It is not BT's website, and we write it to explain BTnet in plain words: what BT offers, what BT's terms say, and what that means for your site. Everything we describe is BT's service; our part is helping you choose it, order it and live with it.

What we do for you

From first conversation to life after go-live, here is where we help:

  1. Listen first. What the connection is for, how many people and devices depend on it, which cloud services and phone system you use, and what happens if it goes down.
  2. Size the bandwidth. We help you choose a port speed for today and a bearer with room for tomorrow, so growth can be a Bandwidth Flex rather than a new line. See our bandwidth sizing guide.
  3. Choose the plan. Wires only, a managed Cisco router or Meraki with BTnet Security, plus BTnet Wi-Fi if you want it. We explain where BT's responsibility ends in each.
  4. Plan resilience. If downtime would hurt, we talk through BT's failover, load balancing and back-up options and what to ask at survey about separate routes and power.
  5. Check availability and prepare the quote. We check your address, explain the likely delivery picture and set the options out in a written quote.
  6. Help with survey, wayleave and site preparation questions. What the site survey looks at, whether you need a wayleave agreement from your landlord, what excess construction charges mean, and how to prepare your site.
  7. Help you plan around BT's dates. We can share BT's dates and updates with you and help you plan your move, switch-over or phone changes around them.
  8. Help after go-live. Speed changes, adding security or Wi-Fi, moving premises and making SLA claims under BT's terms.

Who does what

It helps to be clear from the start about who is responsible for each part of a BTnet service:

TaskWho
Understanding your needs and recommending a planForever Communications
Your written quote and orderForever Communications
Site survey and lead-time predictionBT, using BT's delivery process
Building the access line to your premisesBT (the fibre work may be carried out by Openreach)
Customer Committed Date for deliveryBT, after survey
Installing, configuring and testing BT's equipmentBT
Acceptance tests once the service is readyYou, within five Business Days under BT's terms
Faults on the service within BT's boundaryBT's Service Desk, reported by your nominated contact
Your own network, firewall (where yours) and Wi-Fi settingsYou or your IT provider
Changes, moves and SLA claimsWe can help you prepare and follow them through

We do not set BT's dates or its service levels, and we do not make promises on BT's behalf. What we can do is make sure you know what to expect and what is needed from you at each stage, so fewer things come as a surprise.

Getting the detail right early

Some delays and surprises on a leased line can be avoided by asking the right questions at the start. Before we quote, we like to understand:

  • Your building. Who owns it, whether a wayleave agreement will be needed, where a comms room or cabinet could go, and whether there is power and space for BT's equipment.
  • Your timing. When an existing contract ends, when you move in, or when your phones move to the cloud, so the order can be placed early enough for BT's lead times.
  • Your people. Who will be the Customer Contact for BT, who manages your network, and who can give site access on installation days.
  • Your network. What will plug into the line, whether you have a firewall already, and whether your internal cabling and switches can keep up with the speed you are buying.
  • What happens if it goes down. Whether calls, card payments or cloud systems must keep working, which shapes the resilience conversation.

None of this is complicated, but it is much easier to sort out before an order than after a survey.

Who we help

BTnet suits a wide range of organisations, and the questions differ from one to another. We have written guides for:

Whatever the organisation, the aim is the same: a BTnet service sized and set up for how you actually work. See all leased lines by sector.

Is BTnet the right fit for you?

Plain answers on BT's terms

BT's BTnet terms are detailed. Before you sign, we can talk you through the parts that matter most for your organisation:

  • The minimum period and how termination charges work if your plans change
  • Cancellation charges once a Customer Committed Date is confirmed, which depend on the bearer type
  • What the SLA covers, what it excludes and how to claim; see the BTnet SLA
  • Who owns what: BT's equipment and the IP addresses BT provides remain BT's
  • What you need to provide at your site: space, power, access and internal cabling
  • The PCI DSS point: BTnet must not be used to process, store or transmit cardholder data

Use our questions to ask before you order as a checklist.

BTnet and BT Cloud Voice from the same company

Moving phones to the cloud is a common reason to look at a leased line. BT says BTnet gives voice traffic priority, including calls on its Cloud Voice and SIP services. If you want both, Forever Communications supplies BT Cloud Voice as well, so the connection and the phone system can be planned together. Read our guide to a leased line for VoIP.

Part of Forever Group

Forever Communications is part of Forever Group. If your project goes beyond BTnet, Forever Group's main site covers business connectivity, business telephone systems, Microsoft 365 and more. On this site we stay focused on one thing: BTnet, explained properly.

Start the conversation

The quickest way to start is to send us:

  • Your site address and postcode
  • What the connection will be used for, and roughly how many people and devices
  • The speed you think you need now and in a few years
  • Whether you want a managed router, security, Wi-Fi or a second line
  • Any landlord, access or timing constraints we should know about

Do not worry if you only have some of it. Contact us and we will take it from there. See also our leased line quote page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Forever Communications the same company as BT?

No. Forever Communications is an Authorised Supplier for BT and part of Forever Group. This site is run by Forever Communications and is not a BT website.

Who installs a BTnet leased line bought from Forever Communications?

BT delivers the service: it arranges the survey, builds the access line (the fibre work may be carried out by Openreach), installs and tests the equipment and confirms the Service Start Date. We help you through each step and keep you informed.

Is the SLA different if I buy BTnet through Forever Communications?

The service levels are BT's, as set out in BT's BTnet terms. We explain them and can help you prepare claims, but we do not add our own service levels on top.

Can Forever Communications supply BTnet and BT Cloud Voice together?

Yes. We supply both, so the leased line and the phone system can be planned together. See BT Cloud Voice.

How do I get a quote?

Contact us with your site address and postcode and what the connection is for. See leased line quote for everything that helps us quote accurately.
